For an assignment we had to choose our culture as an inspiration for an interior i.e. a living space. We had to bring together different textures, patterns, textile and colours to show this in our mood/ material board. I have used a wide range of materials to show my story and culture growing up.
My name is Shayden and I am part Maori.
I decided to show a side that no one really knows about me and where and how I grew up as a child. growing up as a child I remember running down the road bare foot to buy lollies from the local dairy. I took inspiration from this memory and also from the photo above. I loved the use of natural elements to show the more rural upbringing and I tried to tie in cultural elements with the use of colour.
