The name 'Neoclassicalism' was given to Western movements in Visual arts, theatre, music, literature and architecture that was inspired by the classical art and culture of a classical antique.

In this period, their art was quite a big stand out at this time and has definitely changed over the years with different skills and techniques. Neoclassical Art represents the enhancements of themes and aesthetic standards of the ancient classical art. the art had a strong influence on enlightenment and philosophical ideas based on a reason and the use of cool colours were widely used. Nowadays we see a lot of abstract art that uses a lot of bright colours and paintings that are simple and minimalistic.

Paintings and painters such as The Death of Marat by Jacques-Louis David and Grande Odalisque by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres were highly famous in this era.

Neoclassical homes are inspired by the classical architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. These homes are prominently large and feature a portico ( a structure consisting of a roof supported by columns or piers, usually attached to a building as a porch) which was supported by columns. These columns are often the full height of the exterior. Architecture is characterized by beauty of simplicity of geometric forms, scale, dramatic use of columns inspired by Greek, and blank walls. comparing to the current time, we use a lot of simple architecture focusing on geometric shape, innovative ideas, use of material and bringing the outside in.

Mood Board inspired by Neoclassicism

I was inspired by the simplicity, symmetry and beauty with this mood baord. I took inspiration from the detailing on columns and related them back to leaves off a flower. The idea of pink and femininity came from roses, women statues, and paintings.

Modern/ Neoclassical Interior

Overall I decided to keep it very simple yet elegant. I tried to incorporate black and white but very feminine in all of the soft plush material. Carrying on the idea of pink roses, I added a flower material wall paper and pink couches to soften up the space.
